Keru over on Patreon put the bug in my ear about the Studio Ghibli version of The Gifts of Darkness. Thanks to my unfathomable powers, I can turn any foolish idea into reality!

It’s easy to see why, but the Studio Ghibli adaptation cut all the sex and therefore needed to strip the arc of Adrien’s agony over his crush to like two perfectly chaste scenes. Fans of the movie were absolutely aghast to read the source material and realize how that part really goes. And naturally the movie itself was gorgeous, the backgrounds were out of this world, but sanitizing Adrien results in a whole different character, and it’s hard to figure out what even is the deal with Val in this version. Though he’s so charming that everyone got a crush on him after watching the movie.
